Top Picks for Steak Houses in NYC
New York City is a treasure trove of steak houses—from trendy to old-fashioned and boasting a wide range of succulent meats prepared in several international styles. “The first thing guests want to know is where to get a great steak,” Gloria Morgan, concierge at Millennium Broadway Hotel New York, says. Morgan has three very different picks for where to get a great steak in the Big Apple. “Churrascaria Plataforma has so many different cuts of meat—offering every part of the cow during one sit-down meal,” she says. At this Brazilian restaurant located in Midtown West, diners can enjoy a wide range of beef, including top sirloin, prime beef hips, sirloin beef flap, short ribs, rib eye and filet mignon served in the rodizio style—meaning the different cuts of beef, as well as other meats, are served in succession to each guest right at their table. “When I eat steak, I look for something juicy and tender,” Morgan says. “The way the restaurant seasons the meat with cured salt and grills the steak is great.” For an old-fashioned dining experience, Morgan opts for Empire Steak House. “This is a good, normal American steak house with a nice T-bone and loin,” she says. “The environment is romantic, with beautiful table settings, and you won’t get lost in the intimate space.” In the heart of Manhattan’s Theater District, the Italian eatery Bond 45 is a great place for a flavorful steak. “The steak isn’t American grilled and has a more elaborate flavor profile and is very well-seasoned,” Morgan says. On the dinner menu, patrons can choose from several cuts of dry-aged, USDA beef with jumbo lump crabmeat or Gorgonzola toppings, as well as béarnaise or Brunello wine sauce.
