Food festivals are a thing to be celebrated. I mean, delicious food all in one place—who can argue with that? During my time in New York, I’ve been to a few, including Whole Foods Market New Taste of the Upper West Side. When I went last year, the festive event was held under a large tent—complete with appetizing smells and eager attendees waiting to dig in to a number of dishes, from ribs and sliders to bacon cookies and corn dogs.

One of my favorite structures in New York City is Grand Central Terminal. This beautiful building—which serves as the main hub for the Metro-North Railroad, connecting commuters to and from New York City to other counties in New York and Connecticut—reminds me of the grandiose cathedrals in Rome and Florence. Highlights of the awe-inspiring Main Concourse are the large, blue astronomical ceiling and the four-faced clock, which rests atop the main information booth.

In all the time I’ve lived in Upper Manhattan, I’ve wanted to go to a Columbia Lions football game at their 218th Street stadium, but never remembered when football season came around. This year, I made it a point to go and was glad I did. The game I attended, against the Fordham Rams, started at noon, but most fans got to the area over an hour earlier to start tailgating.

Growing up in northeast Ohio, one of the region's most notable attractions is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. Out of all the costumes and artifacts, the thing I remember most vividly is a display of the bed John Lennon and Yoko Ono shared when they first moved to New York City

I really like the Lower East Side. This fun, quirky area is filled with boutiques, restaurants and galleries. See what I mean on Wednesday, September 5th, from 6 to 9 p.m., when the Lower East Side Business Improvement District (LES BID) hosts Lower East Side Opening Night: Art+Fashion, a celebration of opening receptions for many of the 80-plus art galleries found throughout the neighborhood.
