Michael Urie stars as Arnold Beckoff, a young gay man in New York City who wants to find happiness with a husband and a child. When his overbearing Jewish mother, played by Mercedes Ruehl, comes to visit, he realizes something else is missing in his life: respect. Harvey Fierstein’s comedy drama was first produced in 1982 on Broadway, where it won the Tony Award for Best Play.
