Get Out the Vote

Just two weeks to go until Election Day, and the hotly contested presidential campaign of 2016 is already one for the history books. In step with the times, The New-York Historical Society’s current exhibition, “Campaigning for the Presidency, 1960–1972: Selections From the Museum of Democracy,” on view thru Nov. 27, displays memorabilia and ephemera from four equally newsworthy and contentious presidential elections: 1960, John F. Kennedy vs. Richard Nixon; 1964, Lyndon Johnson vs. Barry Goldwater; 1968, Nixon vs. Hubert Humphrey vs. George Wallace; and 1972, Nixon vs. George McGovern (see slide show below).

No matter which candidate and political party you support, the 120 objects, from the sublime to the ridiculous, are historically and aesthetically fascinating as well as reminders to cast your ballot on Nov. 8.
