Tip of the Week: Top Four Cozy NYC Restaurants With Fireplaces
Although 2013 has yet to see NYC graced with a thick blanket of snow, this has been a pretty windy winter so far—with locals and visitors alike bundled up when they hit the blustery outdoors. This is also the perfect time to cozy up with a cocktail at one of the city's intimate eateries. Peter Johnson, concierge at The Kimberly, shares his weekly recommendations—from area attractions and Broadway shows, to restaurants and retail—on the hotel's Facebook page. The knowledgeable concierge recently shared with IN New York & Where his top four cozy NYC restaurants with fireplaces. "The Sea Fire Grill, on E. 48th St., has a gorgeous fireplace and the food is fantastic," Johnson says. Must-try menu items include lobster bisque, lobster mac n' cheese, crab cakes and surf n' turf. However, it's the porterhouse for two that makes this recently opened eatery "a cozy and romantic dining venue." The Sea Fire Grill's sister restaurant, Benjamin Steakhouse, also tops the list. "I love a table by the fireplace—one of the coziest, most beautiful dining rooms in the city." It also doesn't hurt that the Midtown East eatery also "serves up some of the best steaks in town." Some of the best restaurants and lounges are found in many of the city's hotels, including The Lambs Club in The Chatwal Hotel. Patrons can feast on American fare while gazing at the gothic fireplace at this intimate eatery. Patrons can also cozy up at Upstairs, The Kimberly's penthouse level bar and lounge. Upstairs has a fireplace on the terrace, with a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline, making it "one of the most cozy and romantic spots in the city." Read more of Peter's Picks here.
