In addition to the famous New Year’s Eve Ball Drop in Times Square, and the lighting of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is one of the most popular New York City holiday celebrations. If you plan to go to the parade this year, and want a bird’s-eye-view of the festivities, several area businesses along the parade route will be open on Thanksgiving Day. This year’s route kicks off at 9 a.m. on 77th St. & Central Park West and ends at the iconic Macy’s in Herald Square. The Time Warner Center, a two-tower glass skyscraper in the heart of Columbus Circle, is along the route and could serve as the perfect place to watch the parade. The structure houses The Shops at Columbus Circle—a multi-floored shopping complex with several retailers, bars and restaurants. Several shops will be open until 5 p.m.
