The Morgan Library & Museum
Initially the private library of financier J. Pierpont Morgan, the facility now houses a research library and museum featuring sheet music by Mozart and three of the extant copies of the Gutenberg Bible, as well as a collection of rare and priceless books, manuscripts, drawings and prints. Period rooms open to the public include Mr. Morgan’s study and his library.
Dining options include the informal Museum Café in the central court and The Morgan Dining Room, once the Morgan family dining room.
The Morgan’s outstanding shop is a prime source of books, postcards, reproductions and decorative gifts.
Special, temporary exhibitions, either on loan from other institutions or derived from the museum’s permanent collection, explore erudite facets of art and literary history.
