Prospect Park

Some might say Prospect Park is to Brooklyn what Central Park is to Manhattan. And, the comparison is pretty spot-on. BK’s largest park—coming in at 585 acres—was even designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, the same landscape architecture team behind Central Park. Similar to its Manhattan counterpart, Prospect Park is chalk full of attractions, including the Audubon Center; Carousel, located in the park’s Children’s Corner; LeFrak Center at Lakeside, with seasonal ice skating and more; Lefferts Historic House, which was built in the 18th-century and features a working garden, historic artifacts, period rooms and exhibits; Parade Ground, with baseball, tennis, soccer and football fields; playgrounds; a tennis center; and Prospect Park Zoo—home to almost 400 animals. Park visitors can also relax in the Long Meadow and shop for fresh produce in the park’s year-round greenmarket.
