The classic 1956 Lerner & Loewe musical, based on George Bernard Shaw’s “Pygmalion,” returns to Broadway in a new production directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher. Heading the cast are Lauren Ambrose as Eliza Doolittle (thru Oct. 21, 2018), Harry Hadden-Paton as Henry Higgins, Norbert Leo Butz as Alfred P. Doolittle (thru Jan. 6, 2019) and Rosemary Harris as Mrs. Higgins. A 29-piece orchestra performs such immortal show tunes as “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” “The Rain in Spain,” “I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face” and “On the Street Where You Live.” Kerstin Anderson plays the role of Eliza Doolittle at all Sunday matinees.
Casting news: Tony Award winner Laura Benanti stars as Eliza Doolittle beginning Oct. 23, 2018, thru Feb. 17, 2019. Beginning Oct. 30, 2018, Kerstin Anderson plays the role of Eliza Doolittle at all Tuesday evening performances. Beginning Jan. 8, 2019, Danny Burstein assumes the role of Alfred P. Dololittle, which he will play thru April 28, 2019.
