With eye-catching art made in petri dishes, sleek Victorinox Swiss Army watches equipped with flashlight and strobe features, and even the 2014 Corvette Stingray on display, the new Wired Store combines geek with chic in a totally original way. The Meatpacking District pop-up shop, hosted by tech magazine Wired, showcases a ton of hot gadgets, adventure gear, musical instruments and objects d’art, many of which can be tested in-store by shoppers. Wired also invites visitors to interact with experimental facilities, including a “Photon Shower” that helps relieve jet lag and a virtual-reality booth that mimics the sounds of a home equipped with Sonos speakers. And what’s a Big Apple shop without a flashy window display? A miniskirt (once worn by pop singer Katy Perry) programmed to receive and display Tweets in real time takes center stage in the front window, flashing its sewn-in lights to create stylish patterns. The Wired Store will be hosting events all month, including a demonstration day on Dec. 15. Stop by before it closes on Dec. 22!
