If you are anything like me, you expend way too much time on the train (or at your desk, or in a movie theater) thinking about a really unique holiday gift for your friends Val, Emily, Carly and assorted others and finally coming up with—absolutely nothing. So, needless to say, news of the National Museum of the American Indian Art Market was indeed welcome during this annual Shopping Season from Hell. Held on the first floor of the museum in the Diker Pavilion on Dec. 6 & 7 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the fair will showcase items from both well-known and up-and-coming Native American artisans: jewelry, baskets, sculpture, ceramics and more. Really different, really beautiful, and, since I intend to snag some special pieces for the gift-worthy souls in my life, hopefully, Val, Emily OR Carly are not reading this.
