I think it’s fair to say that if you want to experience the pinnacle of glamor of New York City, you won‘t do much better than the Rainbow Room. A circular dance floor, views of the George Washington Bridge and Central Park, a huge, glittering chandelier and Art Deco starburst designs—it really is easy to pretend you are in another era. This month, you will definitely want to slip on your high heels (or make sure your best suit is out of the suitcase) to experience the sparkling ballroom atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza while listening to Max Weinberg and the Max Weinberg Orchestra. Max Weinberg, who was the longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E-Street band, is performing at the Rainbow Room from Nov. 2 thru 30, playing swing, Latin jazz and ballroom rhythms. In between dance sets, enjoy a three-course prix fixe menu, as dressy as the guests, with appetizers like oysters on the half shell, a 1934 Rainbow Room filet mignon “marechale” (filet mignon made with sherry wine), and warm chocolate fondant cake. Seatings are at 6 p.m. ($145) and 8 p.m. ($195). Dahling, I know you will have a mah-velous time.
