Bahama Mama
Bahama Mama

What do you get when you combine a clothing outlet, home accessories store, restaurant and bar? The answer is as refreshing as a tropical breeze: Tommy Bahama. Essentially, the place is a Bahama-themed superstore, where you can shop, eat and drink in one fell swoop. Men can pick up an airy linen shirt while women can dig out that perfect sun dress or beach shawl. Looking for a mahogany-and-crystal ashtray? They've got it! A longboard for your skater son? Done! Need a rustic beach tote to carry it all in? Honey, you've come to the right place. Everything here feels like it was plucked from an islander's home or discovered on an adventure off your docked cruise ship. The shopping is so varied that it will make you thirsty...good thing they've got that covered too. The drinks are so tasty, you won't need the heat of an island sun to keep you throwing back glass after cold glass. There's six variations of mojito (yes, I said six), including the intoxicating the Rhum J.M Agricole Blanc with fresh-pressed sugar cane from Martinique, hints of banana and warm spice; nine "Tiki Traditions" cocktails, including the namesake Bahama Mama (Mount Gay Eclipse rum, Cruzan Coconut & Black Strap, Pineapple, Orange, cream of coconut (divine), house-made grenadine and Angostura bitters; and three "Party Punches" (for groups of 3 or more), which range from "The Keys Breeze" (Pyrat XO, Midori, cranberry and orange) to "Voodoo Bowl" (passion fruit vodka, Grand Mariner, orange, housemade grenadine and orange bitters). The list goes on, so get on your finest summer linens, dust off that sun hat, and board a cruise liner—erhm...subway car—to this vacation-like location. Oh, and pass the sunscreen—I'm beginning to blister.
