Times Square Mexican Party

Times Square Mexican Party

Tacos, tacos and more tacos at Dos Caminos

The enormously popular Dos Caminos eateries around NYC have always been given high marks for their killer margaritas, tableside guacamole and friendly wait staff. Now, the restaurant stakes a claim in Midtown, opening up a flagship location at the W New York - Times Square. The reinvented space (which formerly housed The Whiskey Bar, and will also be taking over part of the W Hotel’s restaurant/bar, Blue Fin) has created a 6,700 square-foot, 250-seat eatery, enhanced with custom tables of white oak and caramel leather, blackened steel lighting and a 40-seat mezcal and margarita bar. A subterranean level offers a separate margarita and guacamole bar, DJ booth and lounge, and private dining room.

The menu offers a variety of small plates and light food choices, including grilled fish, chicken or vegetables over grains, beans, greens and avocado; a ceviche sampler; and chopped Mexican salads, but the classic guacamole dishes remain (including a lip-smacking butternut squash guacamole with apple and chipotle), along with house specialties like 18-ingredient mole short ribs roasted overnight with Mexican risotto, and of course, a great variety of tacos.

It’s fall in New York. The weather is turning crisp and cool, but the Mexican party is remaining hot, hot, hot.
