NYC Chefs Compete For the Title "King of Oysters"

NYC Chefs Compete For the Title "King of Oysters"

Something smells fishy. In the best ways possible.

Oysters are taking NYC by storm this week during Oyster Week (continuing thru Sept. 28), and the crown jewel of the festival is Empire Oyster. No, it's not an invasion of imperial crustaceans (though, I'd be interested to see how such a thing played out). Rather, its's a fete of all things sustainable seafood, craft beer, wine and spirits. New York City chefs will present their best bivalve-based culinary creations—participating restaurants include BLT Fish Shack, L&W Oyster Co. and The Monarch Room—to compete for the title "King of Oysters."

Grab one of those oysters by the half-shell, pucker your lips and start slurping. Something tells me this won't be a raw deal.

WHAT: Lots of oysters. And beer. And wine.

WHERE: The Cabanas at The Maritime Hotel (enter on 17th St.)

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 27, 4-7 p.m.

HOW MUCH?: $65 (early bird), $75 (regular admission). Tickets availible here: http://events.thrillist.com/empireoyster
