An Asti Kind of Day

An Asti Kind of Day

A few days ago, during a particularly harrowing deadline, I was lucky enough to get a press sampling of three of Martini’s sparkling wines: Martini Asti, Prosecco and Rosé. Instead of downing them all myself (tempting), I thought I would conduct a “happy taste test” and so had various staffers around the office come in for a sip or two to describe their experience. Here are some of the comments I got back:
“The Prosecco was much drier than the other two, probably my personal favorite.”
“The Asti is a delicious, sweet sparkling wine, reminds me of Sprite or 7UP.”
“The Rosé was a happy marriage between sweet and dry—an anytime kind of wine.”
“The Asti was sweet and fruity—definitely my favorite.”
“The Rosé reminded me of berries, and the Prosecco was dry and had a slightly sour taste to it.”
“The Asti was a bit too sweet for me, but would be good for cocktails. The Rosé was my favorite. Pleasantly sweet.”
“The Asti had a clinging after-taste; the Prosecco was dry and oaky, and the Rose’s sweet effervescence brings me back to my childhood, to family trips to Upstate in the Finger Lakes and my parent’s favorite find, ‘Pink Catawba.’”

So there you have it. The unbiased opinion of a bunch of very thirst magazine staffers: all agreed it took the edge off getting this magazine out the door!
