Plasmalite? In the ever-expanding world of anti-aging nomenclature, I was stumped on that one. So when I was recently invited to try this new anti-aging laser treatment, a European procedure recently approved by the FDA, I was, of course intrigued. Boutique Body + is located on the Upper East Side, in a small building wedged between two others on bustling Lexington Ave. Not the typical salon—you press a buzzer and then walk up a flight of stairs to get to the spa, with no sleek shop window to lure you in—I wasn’t sure what to expect. But upon walking in, I was delighted with what I saw. Soft music, white leather couches, a large collage painting of a pouty Marilyn Monroe and splashes of pink everywhere—from pillows to staplers—immediately projected a pretty, warm and alluring atmosphere. The company offers a long menu of beauty, health and anti-aging treatments, including acupuncture, botox injections, colon hydroptherapy, signature body sculpting and of course, the aforementioned Plasmalite. I was taken into a room, similar to a massage room and lay down in a reclining chair, where my laser technician, Kathy Sempecos, started me off with a deep exfoliation and cleansing of my face. Then the curious treatment started: I was given eye protectors and then short bursts of light, combined with a little “pinch” were continually applied all over my face and neck. The treatment, I was told, was a true anti-aging multitasker: it would eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, add overall toning, reduce pores and pigmented sections of the skin.  Plasmalite incorporates the benefits of laser, Fraxel and intense pulsed light, all within a single system, hence the ability to combine so many anti-aging benefits into one. The Plasmalite procedure took about an hour, and even after this one session (four to six are recommended for optimum results), I could see my skin had a more even and brighter tone: the sun spots, which initially show up darker, started to fade after a day or two, and then grow lighter than they originally were. The staff exudes both passion and genuine friendliness, a place you wouldn’t mind spending hours in—especially after being given a superb treat, a 30-minute reflexology that left me in a zone far, far away. I can’t wait to get back.  >> Boutique Body + 833 Lexington Ave., Suite 2, 646.964.5058
