Artists, Artists, Everywhere

The Brooklyn Bridge: Variation on an Old Theme (1939)

Why visit a museum this month when you can see such artists as Andy Warhol, Joseph Stella, Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent on a Times Square billboard or a city bus shelter? Art Everywhere US, the largest outdoor exhibition ever organized, will be presenting art works from American Masters all around the country. Starting Aug. 4 in New York, you will be able to view great works of art on displays in Grand Central Terminal, Port Authority Terminal, near the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, and of course, Times Square. A comprehensive map of all the Art Eerywhere US locations is available on the website from Aug. 4-Aug. 31. The works have been selected from five leading American art museums: The National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.; the Dallas Museum of Art; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Art Institute of Chicago; and the Whitney Museum of American Art. So, grab a pretzel from a vendor in midtown, take a bus to somewhere and enjoy some highbrow art: al fresco.
