Open House New York

Open House New York

Who wouldn’t want to visit Google’s Chelsea headquarters? Sorry, but if you don’t work there or know someone who does, it’s strictly off-limits.

And if you’re not a student at the City University of New York’s Bronx Community College, what are your chances of ever entering McKim, Mead & White’s magnificent 1912 Gould Memorial Library? Precisely.

Thank the gods of art and architecture then for Open House New York Weekend, Oct. 17–18, when these and hundreds of other sites in all five boroughs unlock their doors to the public for tours and talks. There’s no arguing with Gregory Wessner, executive director of Open House New York (OHNY), when he says, “Every year, OHNY Weekend reminds us of the critical role that architecture plays in making New York the extraordinary city that it is.”
