It’s all in the accessories. I can't tell you how many compliments I get when I add a few simple decorative touches that take my apartment from a dorm room look to “Oh! She’s got her life together!” chic. A cute pillow, a cozy throw blanket and really great quality candles can really change a room. I’ve been in love with the scented candles at diptyque for years—from a romantic dinner to surprise family visits and everything in between, I can always count on diptyque accessories and textiles from The 34 Collection to make my home pop.

A little background...

The diptyque store began in Paris with three friends, Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot and Yves Coueslant driven by the same creative passion. Previously designing fabrics and wallpaper for Liberty and Sanderson, together they teamed up in 1961 and opened a store at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain to showcase their fabric designs. It wasn’t until 1963 that diptyque began to explore its love of fragrances, first with candles—Aubepine, Cannelle and The—before launching its first eau de toilette, L'Eau, in 1968.

The diptyque collections of home fragrances and textiles are extensive with geometric patterned linen pillows, crystal photophores, and colorful stationery with its signature oval label. My favorite item is the 2.4-oz Lavender Leaf candle; it’s the best $34.00 you’ll spend all month—trust me, those plugins and “over-the-counter” brands can’t compete—I light it up at the end of the day and feel the stress of my commute just melt away. Fall is finally here and I can savor another candle fragrance, the Wood Fire; this sophisticated blend of rare woods recalls the crackling of an open fire—it’s warm and familiar during the winter season.

For those who don’t like the idea of candles, there’s also the hourglass diffuser 2.0. This is totally worth the splurge of $175.00—flip it over and the diffusion cycle lasts approximately one hour; it’s ideal for scenting small spaces over a period of several months until the fragrance evaporates completely. This beautiful flame-free conversation piece is refillable and there are six fragrance options to choose from including ginger, roses and orange blossom. There’s a reason Diptyque has been around for over 50 years; it offers a way to add a little luxury to your home without breaking the bank.
