Where to Find Last Minute Halloween Costumes

There are only a few more days left to pick out the perfect costume for Halloween. No spooky ideas? Check out these shops for inspiration and snag a last-minute outfit before it’s too late.

Well-known NYC beauty supply shop Ricky’s offers Halloween-esque hair dyes and makeup year-round, but in October, it also offers costume-specific pop-up shops around the city. Ricky’s offers hundreds of wacky options for kids, adults and even pets at a variety of locations, making it a perfect spot to find something at the last minute without venturing too far out of your way.

For a more unique costume, check out vintage shops like Screaming Mimi’s and New York Vintage. These spots are sure to have an interesting assortment of pre-owned clothes and accessories from the past few decades to create a retro-chic outfit. Screaming Mimi’s in particular is known for its well-stocked costume selection.

If you don’t mind digging around for distinctive pieces, you can also check out consignment shops like Beacon’s Closet or thrift shops like Housing Works and Salvation Army. I was recently browsing at Housing Works’ Crosby Street location and came across a good-condition vintage dress in a bold 1960’s print that would be perfect for a Halloween costume. Plus, purchasing at Housing Works and Salvation Army helps out the charitable organizations with which they’re associated.
