Spend a Day Browsing the Books at The Strand

My mom is a librarian, so I’ve been a complete bookworm since I learned to read. One of my favorite places to find additions to my shelves is The Strand. If you haven’t been to the Union Square-area store, you may want to plan an entire day around exploring their 18 miles of books. Along with an extensive selection of new and used fiction and non-fiction, The Strand also offers first editions, art books, DVDs, stationary and more. On the top floor, you can visit their Rare Book Room, which features a frequently changing assortment of books and literary documents.

Since a lot of the books at The Strand are used, it has a distinct, dusty smell and atmosphere that I love. On my first visit, I was overwhelmed by the incredible amount of literature in one place and even now it’s hard to spend less than an hour browsing the shelves.
