The military has had an impact on fashion for ages and Cockpit USA’s designs celebrate iconic vintage flight jackets and other combat wear to create contemporary pieces.

Established in the mid 1970s as Avirex, what is now Cockpit USA first began when its President and founder Jeff Clyman combined his passion for aviation with his knowledge of historic military fashion to recreate period jackets. He learned to authentically reproduce military designs and became an official government supplier of A-2 Leather flight jackets to the United States Air Force.

Cockpit USA has since partnered with film companies to promote the huge 1980s hits “The Right Stuff” and “Top Gun.” Sylvester Stallone wore a Cockpit USA B-3 Shearling jacket in “Rocky III.” President Obama wore an A-2 jacket on Air Force One and Beyoncé had a Cockpit USA piece in a video that played during her “The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.”

For almost 50 years, Cockpit USA has been crafting a majority of its products right here in the U.S. While men’s flight jackets, vests, sweaters and shirts (button-up and graphic t-shirts) make up most of Cockpit USA’s catalog, there are women’s and children’s jackets, as well as women’s vests. There is a 20% off sale on all women's styles in stock through March 30, 2017 when you use the code 20NY!

Items are available to peruse on Cockpit USA’s website at all times, but if you’re in NYC, you can schedule an appointment to see the brand’s exclusive appointment-only showroom. There, you can try on jackets and receive in-person assistance from the brand’s dedicated staff to ensure you find the perfect size that fits you just right.
