Dance Like No One’s Watching at Grand Central Terminal Tonight

Sure the Empire State Building is great and, of course, no trip to NYC is complete without seeing the stoic Statue of Liberty, but my favorite Big Apple attraction has to be Grand Central Terminal. The Main Concourse, with its star-speckled ceiling and jewel-like iconic clock, reminds me of grand European cathedrals. Each day, thousands of commuters hustle and bustle through the large hall waiting for trains to whisk them away to Connecticut and New York’s northern reaches.

Before hopping on the train, commuters often grab a bite downstairs in the attraction’s Dining Concourse. Not your run-of-the-mill food court, the sprawling space is home to the likes of Hale & Hearty Soups, Junior’s Restaurant, Magnolia Bakery, Shake Shack and more. Foodies can opt to grab grub to-go or chow down while stationed at tables or comfy leather armchairs that pepper the gathering place.

If you want to enjoy music with your meal, head to Grand Central Terminal tonight for “The Dining Concourse in Concert,” the attraction’s music series, which takes place the first Thursday of each month and features everything from 30’s-era swing music to New Orleans jazz to soulful blues and more. From 6 to 8 p.m., Bellatonic—an NYC-based group that blends jazz with pop—will perform. Stop by the Dining Concourse to eat, drink and tap your toe to this dynamic group. If the mood strikes, get up and dance—you won’t be the only one, I promise.

Also make sure to stop by the world-famous transportation hub for Taste of the Terminal. At this month-long event, visitors can snag freebies from various Terminal restaurants and shops. The festivities, which also includes live music, take place every Monday in April from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. in Vanderbilt Hall. If you’re a fan of bubbly beverages today is National Beer Day. The shops and restaurants at Grand Central Terminal are celebrating the occasion with specials and discounts on beer throughout the Terminal.
