Last week, I was lucky enough to attend an event catered by David Burke Group. On the menu were melt-in-your-mouth mushroom risotto croquettes, tangy and colorful beet salads (pictured), slightly spicy barbeque chicken dumplings and juicy pickle-topped cheeseburger sliders. The dumplings and sliders are also offered at Burke’s Bloomingdale’s location, Burke in the Box, alongside other shareable snacks like crab cake sliders, tiny chicken tacos and prosciutto pizza.

New Yorkers like to dine out and the holidays are no exception. If you want to save the cooking for another day, check out one of the many restaurants open on Thanksgiving—serving up traditional festive fare and creative specialties.

It takes me over an hour by subway to get to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, but it’s worth it for a trip to Bliss Grand. Like the name implies, Bliss serves blissfully delicious food—all of which is vegan and made without preservatives, chemicals or refined sugars. They also offer plenty of gluten free options.

You can find hot dogs all over the city, from street vendors to baseball stadiums. But if you want a more creative dog, head to Park Slope’s Bark.

Since 2009, Baked by Melissa has offered some of the best—and some of the tiniest—cupcakes in New York City.

If you venture out in New York City today, chances are good you might run into a witch, ghoulish zombie and even a guy wearing a frilly pink tutu.

There are several people and places synonymous with Harlem. Langston Hughes? Of course. The Apollo Theater? You name it.

Located among the hubbub of Manhattan’s Theater District, Daniela Trattoria is a refreshingly calm escape from the throngs of tourists on Eighth Avenue.

Although Oktoberfest technically ended a few weeks ago, you can still celebrate fall by grabbing a pint and some hearty fare at several watering holes throughout the city.

When I think of neighborhood watering holes—the type “where everybody knows your name”—what normally comes to mind is a dark space with a long wooden bar, complete with a curmudgeonly, yet lovable, bartender and every type of sports memorabilia hanging from the walls.
