Thanksgiving is just around the corner and for the fourth year in a row, more than 4.5 million plans made by Americans traveling during Thanksgiving chose New York City making us the most popular domestic destination according to Allianz Global Assistance’s “Top 10 Thanksgiving Destination Report.”
We may be partial, but NYC has a fantastically diverse food scene with a different restaurant on practically every corner. We’ve collected 12 restaurants that will cater to you on Thanksgiving Day—and whoever you choose to celebrate with—from the gluten-free vegetarian to the tryptophan-chasing carnivore.
Oceana, from Executive Chef Bill Telepan, is offering a three-course prix fixe menu from noon-9 pm, with additional raw bar items and sides available á la carte where each table will receive a gift. There are plenty of options to choose from to satisfy even the pickiest eaters. Course one: Autumn salad, shrimp bisque, house-smoked brook trout, tuna tartare; course two: sea scallops, seared halibut, Scottish salmon, roasted organic turkey, or Heritage prk chop; and finally course three: pumpkin mont blanc, s'mores, cinnamon pannacotta, orange vacherin and more all for $88/per person; $50 for children under the age of 12.
Ousia in Hell’s Kitchen is offering a Greek-inspired three-course prix fixe menu for Thanksgiving from 1-8 pm; regular à la carte menu is NOT available on Thanksgiving Day. But don’t worry, there are plenty of hearty Mediterranean items to devour, like grilled octopus or wild mushroom flatbread, or roasted turkey leg with corn cake, tsoureki, chestnuts, apple, rosemary and sausage stuffing. Check out the full menu all for an affordable $55 per person.
Antica Pesa is ideal for those looking to go a bit outside of the traditional box while still enjoying a delicious, chic feast. The à la carte Thanksgiving menu, available from 4-9 pm, features a special terrina di tacchino antipasto (slow cooked turkey, mustard, prune and red wine terrine), a classic cacio e pepe and seasonal pumpkin gnocchi with prawns, and proteins like baked monkfish and free-range chicken. For vegetarians, the restaurant offers a sformato di patate dolce (sweet potatoes with a gorgonzola fondue) along with signature desserts, including pies from their North Brooklyn neighbor, Ovenly.
Located just steps away from Herald Square and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Steak ‘N Lobster is the perfect place to bring the whole family for a delicious Turkey Day feast. Offered from noon-10 pm, the restaurant is serving a three-course prix fixe menu for $40 per person ($36 per person if you book at least three days in advance). Start with either a hearty salad or pumpkin ginger soup, then dive into the entrée round featuring a choice of the signature pounder plus lobster, a New York strip steak, or an herb-roasted turkey. To accompany the entrée, choose four sides from the following options: stuffing and gravy, mashed potatoes with gravy, candied Japanese sweet potatoes, bourbon cranberry sauce, ginger coleslaw and more. And for dessert, a warm slice of apple or pumpkin pie (of course).
Lincoln Ristorante will be celebrating Thanksgiving with an all-day holiday menu featuring Chef Gallante’s roasted free range turkey, autumn pastas like butternut squash ravioli and tortellini di vitello with braised veal-spinach filling, trumpet mushroom, marsala reduction, Castelmagno cheese, festive side dishes and much more. Seatings are available from 11:30 am-7 pm. The prix fixe menu starts at $89 for three courses and $55 for children under the age of 12.
Give thanks in Brooklyn and take in views of the Manhattan skyline from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Statue of Liberty at The Osprey. The restaurant located inside the 1 Hotel, is serving a special Thanksgiving family-style prix fixe menu from noon to 9 pm. Guests have the option to add a sommelier selected wine pairing with the menu for $58 per person. Menu items include pumpkin brioche (rosemary salt, vanilla bean butter); foraged mushroom risotto; a turkey feast with mortadella-chestnut stuffing, sweet potato purée and cranberry relish. End the celebration with sticky toffee pudding with Honeycrisp apple, toffee popcorn and butter and salt ice cream all for $95 per person.
The Breslin in NoMad, from James Beard Award-winning chef, April Bloomfield is offering a four-course prix fixe menu from noon-9:45 pm with seasonal specials including a chicken liver parfait; an herbed Ceasar salad; turkey breast and confit leg or steamed local fish; and finally a slice of pumpkin, pecan or apple pie for $95 per person; $55 for optional wine pairing; $55 for children.
Alain Ducasse's upscale Midtown French bistro Benoit is offering a Parisian three-course Thanksgiving prix fixe menu with specials including duck foie gras terrine with fall fruit chutney and brioche, Vermont farm turkey stuffed with foie gras and chestnut and a “pumpkin pie” their way and a hot chocolate and pecan tart. Sides include pommes frites, green beans and sweet potato purée with raisin and cumin for $85 per person. Pair your European Thanksgiving meal with Benoit’s extensive old world wine list spanning from Rhône to the Loire Valley to Bourgogne and everything in between.
Happen to have some vegetarians with you for the holiday? Visit Villanelle, a veggie-forward restaurant in the heart of Greenwich Village, led by executive chef Nick Licata of Gotham and Degustation, the team will be offering a traditional three-course, prix fixe menu for $95 that has something for every kind of diner and diet (i.e. vegetarians, gluten-free, etc.), including menu items like parsnip and pear soup or beet salad, traditional Thanksgiving offerings such as turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and market vegetables and pumpkin spice cheesecake or apple cobbler for dessert.
Dirty French—now celebrating its fifth anniversary—is serving a $98 prix fixe Thanksgiving menu. It features paté grand mére with foie gras and apricot mustard, mushroom mille feuille with butternut squash and red curry, roasted turkey breast with braised leg blanquette, dirty stuffing and more. New decadent, optional supplements this year are dover sole with sesame and berbere in sauce meuniere and côte de boeuf in brown butter bearnaise. Reinvigorated takes on traditional Thanksgiving desserts complete the meal, including pumpkin pie and key lime tart.
Leave Thanksgiving in the capable hands of Michelin-starred L’Appart this year. Located inside of the French marketplace Le District, L’Appart will be offering an intimate, three-course Thanksgiving lunch ($135 per guest) with two seatings at 11:30 am and 2:30 pm. The menu full of French interpretations on the classic American Thanksgiving—lunch features a main course of roasted stuffed turkey and family style sides including fresh herbs mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, cranberry chutney and more. This Thanksgiving MIFUNE New York, the Michelin-recognized Japanese restaurant in Midtown East, is offering a $125 prix fixe seven-course menu with two seatings at 6 pm and 8:30 pm and an optional $60 wine or sake pairing. The menu, which will highlight the annual Thanksgiving signature organic turkey truffle pie with turkey foie gras gravy was crafted by Chef Yuu Shimano and Chef Tomohiro Urata. Other dishes will include Amberjack sashimi, celeriac chanterelle ravioli with truffle foam; confit of white fish with parmesan herb sablé and aromatic salad. Finish off your meal with a Kabocha pumpkin mont blanc with Okinawa Kibito caramel ice cream.
Join Café Boulud this Thanksgiving from 11 am-8 pm as executive chef Aaron Bludorn prepares a menu filled with seasonal essentials with a modern touch. Menu items include pumpkin soup with crème fraîche, spiced croutons and lingonberries; foie gras terrine with quince, housemade brioche; free-range turkey with chestnut-ciabatta stuffing, cranberry marmalade, savoy cabbage, sweet potato purée, sage jus; apple tart tatin and pumpkin pie for $175 per person.
