I feel it is important that every city dweller have a go-to restaurant—the healthier the better. And, it just so happens my No. 1 spot to satisfy hunger pangs is health conscious and just down the street from my apartment in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

Nature’s Grill is seemingly similar to other diners—offering everything from paninis and pizza to salads and shakes, but, where other “greasy spoons” will set your caloric intake back a few paces, the food at Nature’s Grill is healthy (nothing is fried), flavorful (the Chunky Chicken Salad wrap won’t have you missing the mayo) and filling. What to try? I always opt for the tomatoes and cheese whole wheat pizza, which comes with a large side of blue chips and for $5 is a steal; or the Grilled Chicken Mex wrap, with turkey bacon, tomato, onions, peppers, cilantro & Santa Fe sauce in a jalapeno tortilla. Really, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. So, if you find yourself in southwest Brooklyn, leave the saturated fat for another day and opt for this healthy outpost—I promise your waistline will thank you.

The restaurant also has locations in Cobble Hill and Caesar’s Bay, Brooklyn.
