UrbanSpace’s Newest Market Opens in the Garment District

Yesterday, UrbanSpace opened a new pop-up food market, Garment District, just south of Times Square. The market spans two blocks of Broadway from 39th to 40th Street. Vendors include popular food trucks like Wafels & Dinges, brick and mortar restaurants like Roberta’s and much more.

I stopped by the market to try some Colombian food from Palenque, which offers a variety of arepas. All of Palenque’s arepas are gluten free and come in corn, quinoa or multigrain. I opted for a 4-inch multigrain chicken arepa (the larger size is 7 inches) and a side of yuca fries. The chicken was expertly seasoned and came topped with arugula, cheese, chipotle mayo and a cilantro sauce. The enormous portion size of the yuca fries left me with plenty of leftovers for post-lunch snacking.

The market will be open through October 17th. For the full list of vendors, visit: urbanspacenyc.com.
