Try a Variety of Local Eateries at Mad. Sq. Eats
May 8th, 2013
May is a great month in the Flatiron District.
Not only are flowers in bloom throughout Madison Square Park, but the outdoor food market Mad. Sq. Eats comes to Worth Square—the pedestrian plaza just west of the park. So far, I’ve been twice and tried three vendors.

On the market’s opening day, May 3rd, I braved the throngs of lower-Midtown office-workers and tourists to grab one of my favorite snacks: a curry-coconut chicken empanada with chipotle mayo from La Sonrisa. I had to wait more than 10 minutes while they cooked my empanada, but it was well worth the wait.
This week, I ventured over to the market again with some coworkers and decided to try Mimi and Coco’s teriyaki balls. I asked for a potato-filled portion, but since they only had a few of those left, they gave me half potato and half sausage balls. Luckily both fillings were delicious. I also had a candied bacon and maple cream cheese filled macaron from Macaron Parlour for dessert. Although I’ve never had this particular cookie before, I knew based on my love of all things bacon-and-maple-flavored that I would love it—and it did not disappoint.
Check out all the market has to offer from now through May 31st. Visit urbanspacenyc.com/mad-sq-eats for details.
