Today is National Tequila Day!

There seems to be a day dedicated to everything. Junk food? Of course! Piña Coladas? Why not. So, fans of tequila—whether you prefer it in one mighty shot or part of a creative cocktail—should celebrate because today, July 24, is National Tequila Day! Here are a few places that are celebrating this festive Friday in style.

Javelina, a Tex-Mex eatery near Union Square, is serving two new frozen margaritas during lunch and dinner service. While noshing on the restaurant’s wide variety of queso and other hearty offerings, patrons can try the Habanero & White Peach and Mango & Mint margaritas. Prefer your cocktail on the rocks? Make sure to order the new Cucumber Tequila Smash—a refreshing elixir with muddled mint and cucumber, lemon juice and pure cane sugar.

Although tequila is a Mexico-based beverage, that doesn’t mean you can’t get the heavenly liquor at other NYC outposts. Enter Neta. The modern Japanese restaurant in the West Village is serving up a Lime & Yuzu Shaved Ice Shot, with Tequila Ocho Blanco, smoked salt, shiso and lime—yum!

In Midtown West, folks can enjoy The Matador at Tanner Smith’s. The cocktail house’s signature drink includes El Jimador tequila, Hibiscus Spike liqueur, agave syrup, fresh limejuice and is topped with local Q pink grapefruit soda. The festive drink is served in a stemmed beer glass, garnished with cherry and dehydrated lemon.

In Greenwich Village, Mexican restaurant Horchata’s getting fancy with its Fig Margarita, a mix of Tequila Blanco, fig syrup, Triple Sec and fresh lime. Pair it with a few bites like the eatery’s tacos (think Coles de Bruselas, with Brussels sprouts, spiced pumpkin seeds, roasted poblano chile, cotija cheese and crema fresca; or the Pescado, featuring grilled striped bass, shredded cabbage and avocado-serrano salsa) for a worthwhile start to the weekend. Also try the Blood Orange Margarita, with Sliver tequila, Solerno Blood Orange, fresh limejuice, blood orange juice, with simple syrup and a pinch of salt; and the spicy yet refreshing Cucumber Jalapeno Margarita with Blanco Tequila, Triple Sec, fresh lime juice, agave syrup, sliced jalapenos and sliced cucumbers.

Getting your drink on in BK today? Bushwick’s Faro is offering a summery tequila-based cocktail in the form of Charo’s Kick, a creative concoction of Pueblo Viejo Tequila, mezcal, lemon and orgeat—an almond-based syrup.
