Tavern On The Green is Back On The NYC Dining Scene

After a nearly five-year hiatus, the Big Apple institution Tavern On The Greenis back on the NYC dining scene. Located in Central Park, the buildingwhich dates back to 1870first housed the sheep that grazed in the parks Sheep Meadow. From 1934 until 2009, it was a popular restaurant frequented by both locals and visitors. Today, after a two-year renovation, the restaurant is ready to welcome a new era of patrons. 

Outside, visitors will find a 110-seat gardenthe perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail and take in the scenic views. The renovated interiors include The Bar Room, featuring a large oval dark mahogany bar with a semi-circular red high-backed banquette and casual seating around the perimeter. The atrium-inspired modern Central Park Room features off-white leather tables, ivory-stained wood chairs, and banquettes covered in grey and yellow sun-patterned fabric. At one glass-enclosed end, diners can view the 300-seat Courtyard with panoramic views of the Central Park West skyline and Sheep Meadow. The room also boasts the framed open kitchen, where Chef Katy Sparks prepares American cuisine using farm-raised and artisan-produced ingredients. The South Wing features painted mirror panels and upholstered walls with green and brown fabric furniture. This room leads to the South Terrace, which can be tented, and wraps around to the Green to Go windowaccessible from the parks Bridle Pathoffering sandwiches, drinks and snacks.
