A Night of Jazz on the Upper West Side

A Night of Jazz on the Upper West Side

When I lived in the Bronx, I would often venture south to the Upper West Side for dinner. I think this might be my favorite neighborhood in Manhattan. I love the architecture and the laid-back attitude of most of the residents. Plus, there are so many restaurants, music venues and retail shops. My favorite spot has to be Cleopatra’s Needle, a cozy restaurant with Mediterranean cuisine and live jazz nightly—with no cover charge (but there is a $10 minimum and they have a happy hour). Just to let you know how good the food is, I took my younger brother there once (the pickiest eater I know) and he loved it. This was years ago and he still mentions the restaurant when he comes to visit. Jazz enthusiasts—both seasoned professionals and amateurs alike—can take to the stage for a night of entertaining eager patrons. Stop by tonight for Steve Elmer Trio from 7 to 11 p.m. and Jam with Daisuke Abe from 11:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. For a list of upcoming performances, click here.
