The first bar/lounge I ever went to in New York City was Beauty Bar. As the name might suggest, this casual watering hole near Union Square pairs a good old-fashioned neighborhood bar with a healthy dose of glam. You can enjoy one of your favorite libations at the bar or a table in the back room while listening to guest DJs spin tunes. Here’s where the glam comes in: Several of the chairs along the establishment’s perimeter are actually hooded hair dryers and the not-so-typical happy hour includes martinis! Monday thru Friday from 6 to 11 p.m., or Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 11 p.m., you can get a beverage and manicure for $10. Reservations aren’t necessary and walk-ins are encouraged.
