This past Thursday, I went to an event at Méli—a recently open Greek restaurant in Midtown East. The beautifully designed, two-floor establishment has an intimate bar near the front and an ample-sized dining room in the back—complete with breathtaking scenic photos of Greece; romantic curtains; large, framed mirrors; and gorgeous chandeliers. A cozy mezzanine lounge overlooks the dining room. After trying several of the restaurant’s appetizers—including keftedes (grilled meatballs), loukaniko (Greek-style, homemade grilled sausage), and samplings of spinach pie and feta with tomato and olive oil—I can’t wait to go back for lunch or dinner—especially one of the Greek-style burgers.
