Kugels, Latkes and More at Fischer Bros. & Leslie

Kugels, Latkes and More at Fischer Bros. & Leslie

New York City is home to some of the most interesting culinary creations in the world. Want a burger sandwiched between two ramen buns? We got it. Fiending for beef bulgogi and sushi? There are plenty of Asian fusion restaurants to go around. Before NYC was home to creative new concepts and global delights, it was first and foremost home to old-school delis, many of which were kosher, and a few of which are still in operation today.

I recently traveled to one such establishment on the Upper West Side. Fischer Bros. & Leslie has been an uptown staple since 1949, offering customers a full line of prime beef, veal, lamb, fresh poultry and gourmet prepared foods. If you live in Manhattan and certain tri-state area enclaves, you can get food delivered fresh to your door. If you’re visiting from out of town, stop by the intimate shop and pick up a few classic Jewish foods, including kugels, latkes, rotisserie chicken and fresh baked challahs.
