King Cole Bar Gets a Chic New Lounge

I started my journalism career writing about the New York City hotel scene, so I still have an affinity for the topic—often keeping a look out for new hotels popping up throughout the city, as well as updates and renovations to old favorites. This past November, I had the opportunity to take a look at The St. Regis New York’s recently renovated and expanded King Cole Bar. Now dubbed the King Cole Bar & Salon, the space features a contemporary lounge—reminiscent of a chic speakeasy with cozy fireplace, plush chairs and plenty of lounge tables peppered throughout. On the culinary front Chef John DeLucie, from The Waverly Inn fame, brings an international twist to contemporary American fare (think small plates, including a seafood platter featuring fresh oysters, clams, lobster and caviar; Borollo-braised short rib with celery root puree—served with grilled ciabatta and au jus; and truffled mac-and-cheese). When I visited, I had the opportunity to sample some of the delectable offerings, including Grandma Giulia’s Meatballs. Patrons may also enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner in the space.
