A few weeks ago, I went to East of Eighth Restaurant & Bar—a contemporary bistro in Chelsea. I have a few haunts in the area, but surprisingly had never heard of this particular establishment. I went with a friend who used to work a few doors down, and, is by self-acknowledgment, “a regular.” The friendly neighborhood bar vibe was evident as soon as we walked in. My friend was gingerly greeted by the bartenders, wait staff and several patrons. Throughout the evening, people danced to everything from Britney Spears’ popular tunes to hits from the ‘80s. Although I didn’t venture upstairs to the dining room, I was able to try the food and highly recommend the Pizza Margherita. For more on East of Eighth, click here.
