Enjoy a Luxurious Breakfast at VILLARD
Lotte New York Palace is the luxurious hotel on Madison Avenue that blends effortlessly with the Villard Mansion—a historical residence built in the 1880s for famed financier Henry Villard. The mansion now serves as various venues within Lotte New York Palace, including an elegant ballroom (the Madison Room) and a gorgeous Gallery Room that hosts guests as they dine on the sumptuous offerings of the newly opened VILLARD.
VILLARD, the epitome of fine dining with its Italian Renaissance decor and upscale New American fare, has a generous à la carte breakfast menu that will start anyone’s day off right. From fresh fruit, cereals, oatmeal and eggs any way you want them to avocado toast, lemon mascarpone pancakes, brioche pudding French toast, lobster pearl pasta (butter poached Maine lobster, perfect egg, mascarpone, English peas) and creamy white truffle grits, there is something for everyone—even children! Not going to lie, but I was very much eyeballing the cinnamon toast churros with Nutella on the kids’ menu, as well as the buttermilk pancakes with strawberries and the oatmeal with animal crackers.
I had the pleasure of dining at VILLARD over the weekend and ordered the breakfast flatbread. It took a lot of will power not to dance in my seat as I ate this equally beautiful and tasty meal. A crispy flatbread base supported a silky layer of béchamel topped with flavorful Italian sausage, pancetta, perfectly cooked farm egg, peewee potatoes, fresh baby arugula and a hearty handful of Parmesan cheese. (The flatbread also comes with pickled red onions, but I asked if I could get the dish without them.) Chef de Cuisine Oscar Granados has taken something I already loved (breakfast pizza) and elevated it to a classy morning nosh that is a well-balanced meal for one or could definitely be shared with the table.
Also meant to be enjoyed among a group are farmhouse popovers (with creamed spinach, gruyere and Parisian ham—yum), a bakery basket (butter croissant, pain au chocolat, cheese Danis and cinnamon roll) and thick cut billionaires bacon. This bacon is heavenly—chewy, sweet and with a hint of spice (from being coated with a mix of turbinado sugar, five spice, smoked paprika and chili flakes). Billionaires bacon is a great starter for your meal or can be enjoyed alongside every breakfast entrée. Peppered bacon is also available as one of the side dishes, which my friend ordered alongside her fluffy, buttermilk pancakes. Everything tasted amazing and gave us the energy we needed to tackle errands afterward.
For those looking for your first meal of the day to be a little more traditional, VILLARD offers two “Complete Breakfast” options. The Continental Breakfast allows you butter croissant, pain au chocolat, cinnamon roll, cheese Danish, juice and coffee or choice of tea. The “American Breakfast” is a hearty plate of two eggs any style, bacon or sausage, roasted breakfast potatoes, toast, juice and coffee or choice of tea.
While enjoying our breakfast, we could not help but marvel at the intricately designed ceiling of VILLARD—we were trying to figure out if the people in the paintings represented constellations or signs of the zodiac—and commented how much the room felt cozy and comforting, much like we imagined a library from an Austen novel would be. Instead of books, though, there are tables dotting the room, providing generous seating. Guests also dine in the neighboring Gold Room where VILLARD’s beautiful bar is open daily until 3 pm. In addition to juices, coffees, teas, specialty cocktails and a lengthy wine and beer list, VILLARD has a Bloody Mary bar with four versions of the popular brunch drink (Classic, The New Englander, Spanish Daybreak and Wild West).
Breakfast is served Monday through Friday from 6:30 am until 11:30, as well as Saturday and Sunday from 7 am until noon.
