Discounted Dining During NYC Winter Restaurant Week

Since its inception in 1992, locals and visitors alike eagerly await NYC Restaurant Week—the nearly month-long opportunity to dine at some of the city’s most-talked-about eateries at a fraction of the cost. Starting today thru March 6 (Mondays thru Fridays, with Saturdays excluded and Sundays optional), foodies can enjoy three-course, prix fixe lunches for $25 and three-course, prix fixe dinners for $38 at 340 Big Apple restaurants—offering everything from barbecue, burgers and bulgogi to salads, steak and sashimi. Here are a few places to check out.

Root & Bone
This East Village eatery, specializing in hearty soul food and southern cuisine, will serve a special dinner menu Monday thru Friday, as well as a special Sunday brunch menu. What to expect? For dinner, foodies can feast on Root & Bone’s Award-Winning Fried Chicken with Tabasco honey, Cheddar Cheese Buckwheat Waffle with Whiskey Maple Syrup, and Sautéed Collard Greens with Crispy Faro and more, while the popular pastime brunch will include such mouthwatering fare as BBQ Brisket Biscuits as well as Crab Cake and Warm Goat Cheese Omelets. Burke & Wills
For a taste of Australia without flying half way around the world, look no farther than this Upper West Side Aussie establishment, where Down Under cuisine like a Kangaroo Burger; Barramundi, with Roasted Fennel, Coconut and Ginger Broth; and Affogato, an icebox brownie, with Kahlua Gelato and Espresso have a prominent place on the Restaurant Week dinner menu. Enjoy an authentic Indian dinner in Midtown at Darbar, with plenty of menu options—from flavorful fare like Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh and Goat Bhuna to Beetroot Malai Kofta or Vegetable Korma, Saag Paneer or Chana Saag, and Salmon Tikka or Salmon Tikka Masala, all served with rice and bread. Those craving Korean can get their fix in Midtown West at Kristalbelli, where East Asian staples like Bulgogi Spring Rolls and Kristal Bibimbap (rice with seasoned assortment of veggies with chili pepper paste and choice of beef or tofu) shine on the lunch menu, while Wagyu Rib Eye and Black Sesame Chicken reign supreme in the dinner options. Midtown East’s Northern Italian Steakhouse will serve a special lunch menu Monday thru Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., where Roasted Chicken Breast, with Eggplant Caponata and Golden Raisins is one of the delectable dishes found on the menu. Later that night, from 5 to 10 p.m., as well as Sundays, dinner bites include Pennette, Braised Lamb, with Brussels Sprouts, Carrot and Chili, and Hanger Steak with Red Wine, San Marzano Tomatoes and Mushrooms. Also in Midtown East, Mr. K’s serves up fancy Chinese fare all year, and during Restaurant Week diners can opt for a number of savory dishes on the special lunch and dinner menus.
