Comfort Food at The Cellar

Comfort Food at The Cellar

I work relatively close to the Flatiron District and know how popular Beecher’s New York is, but I’d never been to the cheese shop’s restaurant,  The Cellar—until recently. Below street level, and just downstairs from Beecher’s cheese-making kitchen, the dimly lit eatery boasts an eclectic mix of comfy leather club chairs, tables and wrap-around booths with animal fabric. The menu is just as diverse as the décor, with a sampling of any and every comfort food imaginable; and, of course, cheese gets a major shout out. The delectable selection of small plates includes creative takes on mac and cheese (think balsamic mushroom, fennel; crab, remoulade; curried cauliflower, sweet onion; pork belly, pickled fennel stem; kale, mama lil’s peppers; and more), plus cheese and charcuterie plates, hearty entrées, veggie and meat selections (I had the meatballs with veal, pork, beef and cheese curd), flavorful flatbreads, and more. If you’re in the Flatiron District and craving comfort food, head to The Cellar. You won’t be disappointed.

You must be 21 or older to dine at The Cellar.
