Classic Décor and Hearty Food at Ben & Jack’s Steak House

Earlier this week, I attended an event at the Fifth Avenue location of Ben & Jack’s Steak House. Nestled on an unassuming block north of the Flatiron District, I wasn’t expecting the lavish décor I found inside. On the street level, Ben & Jack’s offers a spacious dining room and bar. Upstairs, private rooms and a small, fully-stocked bar are available for events. The entire restaurant features warm lighting and a classic color scheme of red, gold and deep brown.

We sat upstairs in the main room, which can be sectioned off into smaller areas using heavy, ornate curtains. The buffet-style dinner included two kinds of pasta and many hearty meat dishes, including a well-seasoned take on chicken Parmesan and thick-cut bites of bacon and steak. I’d love to go back and try more options from their menu. The $29.95 prix-fixe lunch special sounds especially appealing: an entrée served with salad or soup, two sides, dessert and coffee or tea.
