Celebrating Salt
Celebrating Salt
August 1st, 2012
One of the most interesting essays I’ve ever read was about salt. Yes, salt. Back in 2001, a Vogue writer traveled the world to grasp a better understanding of this common seasoning. What did he learn? Salt is actually pretty cool. What did I learn? There are so many different kinds besides the container of Morton in the back of my kitchen cupboard. After reading the essay, I found myself with a new appreciation for salt. Maybe you will too after a meal at Philip Marie tonight, where the restaurant will host a Salt & More dinner in collaboration with The Meadow – New York. The three-course pairing menu features food, wine and artisanal salts from around the world (think Slow-Roasted Venison Ragout finished with Red Alder Smoked Finishing Salt). The dinner is from 5 to 11:30 p.m., $39 per person or $59 with wine pairing. Can’t make it out tonight? Don’t worry: The restaurant will host the event again next Wednesday, August 8th—same time, same place. For reservations, call 212.242.6200. 569 Hudson St., at W. 11th St., philipmarie.com
