February is National Cherry Month! What better way to celebrate my favorite tree fruit than indulging in some decadent desserts and tasty pastries? Here are some of the best places around town where you can score cherry-filled treats:

Bubby’s (Tribeca and Meatpacking District): Known for American comfort food and especially pies, Bubby’s has a sour cherry pie that has been called “perfect,” “must-have” and pretty much every positive affirmation by comment sections on Yelp, Trip Advisor and Foursquare. The pie is made with Michigan sour cherries, butter and lard and is enclosed by a flaky lattice pastry crust.

Chocolat Moderne (Flatiron District): A cherry-treat list is never complete without including chocolate-covered cherries! Chocolat Moderne offers dark chocolate covered Italian Amarena cherries that are surrounded by a vodka-infused syrup. These decadent bonbons are available in 4-, 12- and 24-piece gift boxes.

Junior’s (Times Square and Downtown Brooklyn): This might be cheating a little because this is a cherry-topped treat as opposed to cherry-filled treat, but I will use any excuse to recommend Junior’s cheesecake—and the cherry cheesecake is legit delightful.

By the Way Bakery (Upper West Side and Upper East Side): This gluten- and dairy-free bakery is also kosher and gets raves about its sour cherry coffee cake—also available as a mini cake. There are also cherry ginger scones, though the scone of the day flavor varies among lemon currant, cherry ginger and cranberry orange.

Amy’s Bread (Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea Market, West Village): Similar to By the Way Bakery, Amy’s Bread has scone flavors that change daily. Among Amy’s Bread’s array of oatmeal scones with dried fruit and nuts is the cherry cream scone.
