Brews, Brats and More at Radegast Hall & Biergarten

Cold weather calls for hearty fare and lively libations and there’s no reason to wait until Oktoberfest to enjoy a bubbly brew and a few brats. If you fancy Bavarian fare, might I suggest a trip to Radegast Hall & Biergarten in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The sprawling BK beer hall is the perfect place to sit back and enjoy live music, plenty of hearty grub—from the Munich Pretzel with spicy mustard and the Roasted Bone Marrow to more substantial fare of the Beer Braised Short Ribs and Veal Schnitzel variety—and, of course, plenty of international suds, including German brews such as the Benediktiner Weissbier, Hofbrau Oktoberfest and Weihenstephaner Vitus, plus varieties from Belgium, England, the Czech Republic and U.S.

The venue offers plenty of fun during the week, including Tuesday beer tastings in the Bier Haus, paired with live music; and Thursday specials, featuring $6 half-liter daily special beers and a free bratwurst with every liter of the daily special brews.

Sunday brunchgoers can feast on the likes of Bauernomelet—a savory mix of bacon, onions, leeks, potatoes and Emmenthal—the Wild Mushroom Frittata on Ciabatta and more while they bop to the beat of the Koran Agan Trio, led by NYC-based guitarist Koran Agan, who plays at the venue every Sunday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.

If you can’t make it to brunch but want to enjoy live music while you kick back a cold one, you’re in luck, Radegast Hall & Biergarten features live music nightly with the added bonus of no cover charge. For a list of musicians headed to the venue, click here.
