5 Great NYC Spots to Watch Sunday Football

Become a part of the football fan-filled crowds this Sunday. Experience a New York in-house tailgate and savor wings and craft beers with some of the most passionate fans in town. Here are five local spots that host fan-friendly screenings of the biggest games.

Rare Chelsea Bar & Grill: Take in the NYC skyline while you’re watching the game on Rare Chelsea’s rooftop bar (with retractable roof) or settle down in the pub room. Whichever you choose, make sure to indulge in the "Game Day Grub" menu. Sample the lollipop wings, ribeye nachos, and brisket quesadilla. The venue also offers $6 draft beers and $6 mimosas!

The Ainsworth: With locations in Chelsea, Gramercy, Hoboken and Midtown, it is clear that this restaurant, bar and lounge is an NYC favorite. Each location is fully equipped with an abundance of televisions, seating and space. While the music is loud and Sunday brunchers also dine at the restaurant, The Ainsworth is an all-around good time to watch your favorite team play on game day. Try one of the gourmet burgers like the famous mac ‘n’ cheese burger (panko-crusted mac ‘n’ cheese, beef patty, topped with a scoop of more mac ‘n’ cheese) or a signature cocktail like the Crooked Knife (jalapeño-infused Don Julio, lemon juice, agave).

Butterfield 8: In town on a business trip? Head over to this swanky bar and restaurant with your co-workers on a Sunday afternoon. Butterfield 8 characterizes its atmosphere as "posh & charming" and a "nostalgic feel of a classic NYC speakeasy." This bar is the official Denver Broncos bar in NYC—even the NFL network says so!

Standings: Catch the game in this tiny East Village sports bar that has eight HD screens. Though the venue is short of space, its lengthy list of bottled beers and rotating brews on tap will impress any beer enthusiast. Recent beers on tap have ranged from a classic Anchor California Lager to a fruity Austin Eastciders Pineapple Cider. This bar does not play music during games so talkers, shouters, and game analyzers are all welcome.

Village Pourhouse: Enjoy the game at the Village Pourhouse for the ultimate tailgate. This tavern has over 20 HDTV's and complimentary Wi-Fi (Fantasy Football friendly). Sunday football specials include unlimited wings for $19 for one game and $20 jumbo Bloody Marys. If you plan on staying for the entire game day, I recommend ordering the $120 cooler of beer, which includes 24 bottles, served in a tableside cooler. The tavern offers all bar food classics like wings, nachos and loaded tater tots. The joint also has some options that your foodie friends will enjoy too like mac ‘n’ cheese bites and pretzel-crusted chicken tenders.
