Burgers and Blowouts at Wellington Hair Spa

Burgers and Blowouts at Wellington Hair Spa

Chelsea and the West Village are pretty happening ‘hoods for several reasons, including an abundance of movie theaters, quirky cafés and independently owned businesses. I got to check out two such establishments this past week at a work event. The party took place in Chelsea at Wellington Hair Spa—an intimate salon, which specializes in African American hair. Owned by Patrick Wellington, a hair guru with more than 20 years in the business, the space exudes a trendy New York, loft-style vibe, with wooden floors, large silver-framed mirrors at each station and an eclectic mix of artwork on the walls. At the event, partygoers were treated to pampering in the form of shampoos and blowouts while they enjoyed a varied mix of delectable bites from the West Village eatery Joy Burger Bar (think fried zucchini sticks, plus beef, veggie and chicken burgers accompanied by a number of exotic sauces—favorites include mango chutney and wasabi mayo).
