Top Candy Stores in NYC
Although Halloween and candy go together like turkey and Thanksgiving, you don’t have to like one to enjoy the other. If you have a craving for candy but don’t necessarily want to take part in the city’s many Halloween festivities, there are still plenty of sweet shops in NYC to get your sugar fix on October 31—or any day of the year for that matter. Here are a few below.
M&M’S® World New York
Located in the heart of Times Square and spanning three floors, this larger-than-life candy store gives a shout out to oh-so-yummy M&M’S. Visitors can take home merchandise with their fave M&M’S character, plus plenty of chocolaty treats. The store also boasts a M&M’S Candy Wall, mood analyzer and personalized printer—allowing guests to create customized messages printed on M&M’S Milk Chocolate Candies.
The Sweet Life
As the name suggests, visitors to this Lower East Side candy and gourmet chocolate store will definitely enjoy a variety of sugary, as well as savory, treats—from handcrafted chocolates and gummies to jelly beans and malt balls (and just about everything else in between). Health-conscious types can also feast on dried fruit and nuts from the store.
Hershey’s Chocolate World Times Square
Chocoholics, especially fans of the smooth and creamy Hershey’s variety, can get their chocolate fix at this larger-than-life store (which is devoted to any and all things Hershey). While there, visitors can nibble on Hershey’s cookies, create a personalized mix of Hershey’s popular selections (think Miniatures, Kisses and Reese’s Miniatures), get your photo and a message on the store’s giant outdoor screen and scrolling marquee sign, and talk to Hershey, Kiss or Reese in the attraction’s digital interactive experience.
Sugar and Plumm
With a quaint bistro on the Upper Wet Side, this charming venue is a macaron shop, chocolatier, ice creamery and patisserie all rolled into one. After a meal of savory delights—from satisfying soups and salads to filling sandwiches and hearty entrées—make sure to leave room for dessert (think creative sundaes, milkshakes, tons of macarons and baked goods). Milkshakes and sundaes are also available at Sugar and Plumm’s West Village location.
