Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume, The Exhibition Now Open!

Viewing one (or all) of the Star Wars films is like a rite of passage. I was born the year Episode VI: Return of the Jedi hit theaters, but I do remember watching the epic tale—plus the previous two films, Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back—when I was a youngster. By the time high school rolled around, the franchise was back on the scene with full force, thanks to a trilogy of prequels, including Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Now, fans of the franchise are gearing up to get their Star Wars fix with a new film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is scheduled to grace the silver screen next month.

In the meantime, fans can check out costumes from the popular franchise at Discovery Times Square. Through Labor Day 2016, the sprawling exhibition space is home to Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume, The Exhibition. The comprehensive exhibit explores the challenges in dressing the Star Wars universe—from the Galactic Senate and royalty to the Jedi, Sith and Droids™. The exhibition reveals the artists’ creative process—and uncovers the connection between character and costume.

While at Discovery Times Square, visitors can see 70 handcrafted costumes from the first six blockbuster films, plus seven additional costumes from the upcoming movie. For more on the exhibition, click here.
