Holiday Lights in BK

Holiday Lights in BK

Although you can find plenty of holiday decorations throughout Manhattan, the outer boroughs also boast impressive décor this time of year. After you gobble down turkey and other mouthwatering holiday fare this afternoon, later this evening head to Dyker Heights—a neighborhood in southwest Brooklyn—to see the area’s many holiday light displays and decorations.

From right after Thanksgiving thru to the New Year, the residential neighborhood is transformed into a winter wonderland of twinkling lights, inflatables (think larger-than-life santas) and statues, including life-size toy soldiers decked out in vibrant uniforms. The festive décor can be found on and around the area’s many mansions, two-story homes and more. Dyker Heights stretches from roughly 83rd to 86th streets from 11th to 13th avenues. You can reach the neighborhood via the R train to 86th St. stop or D train to 18th Ave. stop.

You can also see a few modest light displays in neighboring Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
