End of Summer Fun at Grand Central Terminal

End of Summer Fun at Grand Central Terminal

The calendar says we still have a month of summer to go, but the kiddos are heading back to school soon—or are already there—so summer is unofficially winding down.

Grand Central Terminal is bidding adieu to the freedom of summer with Grand Central’s Summer Send-Off. For three days (Wednesday August 24 through Friday August 26) from 11:30 am-2:30 pm, Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall will host some fun family-friendly activities perfect to give your little ones a lovely last hurrah before it’s time to hit the books!

Every day will feature free face painting and kid-friendly crafts thanks to Kidding Around Toys, as well as the chance to make-your-own sock creatures with help from LittleMissMatched. On Friday there will also be hair braiding and massages (with donation) from Aveda

At press time, the schedule for entertainment on Wednesday includes Grammy Award winner Tim Kubart and his Loog Guitar. On Thursday, there will be a Broadway Hour with performances from “Wicked.” Friday’s Broadway Hour will have music from “Something Rotten!” and “Kinky Boots,” as well as an interactive “School of Rock” photo booth! Each day will also feature a “Jam to the Music” program (presented by Brooklyn Children’s Museum) where participants will learn about music and dance from around the world.

Depending on the day, food, drinks and treats will be available from Ceriello Fine Foods, Jacques Torres Ice Cream, Li-Lac Chocolates, Oren’s Daily Roast, Zaro’s Family Bakery, Shakes Shack and Café Grumpy.

This event offers free WiFi and a free gift with $5 food purchase (Grand Central sunglasses—limit one gift per customer, while supplies last). There will be five daily raffles with prizes having a Grand Central theme. Guests who wish to participate must enter at the designated booth.
